The shot shows a spacious single-room apartment with a wide, unmade bed and a shiny, enamelled wooden floor; a naked woman twists and turns in an extremely slow manner in the bed and on the floor. To whom is homage being paid in this fourth part of a series of five videos made by the artist in 1972? If the tribute is being addressed to art history and the sequence “is a physical processing of everything I have seen in my life” (Dujourie), there nonetheless remains the possibility of inserting something other than the three ellipsis periods into the title: for example, [Homage to] Slowness or Leisure.
It is the astoundingly smooth movements of the artist and her calm immersion in her body that define the quality of this video.
