Tanja Mosblech

The Garden

Opening: 13.09.2020,

Tanja Mosblech’s most recent works provide the impetus for her first solo exhibition at the IKOB – Museum of Contemporary Art.
For a long time, the basis for her work consisted of blurred or painted-over bodies which were present in the picture as faceless beings.
The abstract surfaces and traces of painting which generally surrounded and framed these figures, keeping them within the picture so to speak, now seem to have become independent.
The bodies from earlier works are sometimes still visible; but for the most part, the painter cancels them to a large extent.
The fascinating effect lies in a new presence of the body which always becomes most vitally energetic when confronted by danger and menace.
In this context, the space built on the ground floor expressly for this exhibition and accommodating an entire series of small-format pictures is a deliberate statement by the artist Tanja Mosblech. She thereby succeeds in giving a home to her art and to the absent people. Is she doing so consciously? Or do statements such as hers occur unconsciously? Let this question remain unanswered! The fact is that it is the privilege of art – and in particular, the art of Tanja Mosblech – to turn the logic of causal interconnections topsy-turvy.

Admission is free, but we would be pleased to accept a voluntary contribution in support of our endeavours and the work of the artist.

A sufficient amount of parking is available in the parking lot of the Carrefour Supermarket, Rotenberg 12, 4700 Eupen.
